We are proud to announce the installation of a new clothing recycling bank in Somercotes, delivered in partnership with Somercotes Community Kitchen. This initiative has been introduced to support a vital local service that provides free, warm meals to people within the community who may be experiencing hardship.
The clothing bank offers residents a simple and effective way to support a local cause while also contributing to environmental sustainability. By donating unwanted clothing, shoes, and textiles, members of the public can help generate funding that will go directly towards the continued operation of the Community Kitchen. This includes supporting the provision of hot meals, essential supplies, and a welcoming space for those in need.
At a time when many households are facing increasing financial pressures, services such as the Somercotes Community Kitchen play an essential role in ensuring that no one in the community goes without access to food and support. This partnership has been designed to strengthen that support through a sustainable and community-driven funding stream.
Residents are encouraged to donate any clean, reusable clothing items they no longer require. Items such as everyday wear, coats, shoes, and accessories can all be deposited in the clothing bank. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps to make a meaningful difference.
In addition to supporting a local charity, the initiative also promotes responsible textile recycling, helping to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill and contributing to wider environmental goals.
We would like to thank the community for its continued support and encourage everyone in Somercotes to take part in this initiative. By working together, we can support those in need, reduce waste, and build a stronger, more resilient community.
Further updates on the impact of this initiative will be shared in due course.
